Nutrition and health have always been an important part of my life. From a young age heavy doses of outdoor activities and clean eating have always appealed to me.
In 2010 I discovered Mark's Daily Apple and shortly thereafter my life with the paleo diet began. Everything about the lifestyle had an uncomplicated and basic appeal.
The reasons for starting Gourmet Paleo became apparent shortly after my transition to the paleo diet.
In my life I have been blessed with two Dads. But by any measure, neither has led what could be considered anything close to a healthy life.
My Step-Dad was quite literally the poster child of the Standard American Diet (SAD). He suffered a heart attack at age 47, had been taking cholesterol medication since it was invented, and battled high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and arthritis for most of his adult life.
On the other side my actual Dad had batltled high blood pressure, a condition known as heart arrhythmias, and struggled with his weight for years. Those familiar with Paleo are also most likely familiar with yo-yo dieting. That sums it up nicely.
After thriving on the Paleo Diet myself for over a year, I convinced both of them to try it. The results were amazing! But like many on the Paleo diet, they struggled with cutting out sweets like cookies and other goodies.
As most of you already know, it’s pretty slim pickin’s when it comes to grain free cookies or other Paleo friendly desserts. Well it just so happens that I love to bake. I even worked at a classic French bakery for a while.
So I took it upon myself to create something that was both delicious AND completely Paleo. In 2013 Gourmet Paleo was born.
We strive to use only the best ingredients, as much as possible from local sources here in the Pacific Northwest. No grains, No soy. No dairy. No processed sugars.
Our goal is to provide a product that is healthy, satisfying, AND delicious.
We hope you enjoy!
